I shall be taking part in this KAOS exhibition at The Stables gallery this Autumn. My self portrait is titled ‘An Apple a Day’.
I think of a self portrait as a picture from the inside looking out. When I observe the world as an artist, I look through the maze of experience that has been my life so far.
Some things in particular leave a lasting impression, such as my childhood growing up on a fruit farm. A life structured by the seasons and dependent on nature. Surrounded by orchards. Apples were everywhere – in trays under our beds, in our homemade puddings and jams and everyday one to take to school.
